Count Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev (1754-1826) - one of the three sons of the great commander P.A. Rumyantseva - Vera and Truth served Russia under three emperors: Catherine II, Paul I and Alexander I. Outstanding diplomat and wise statesman, lifelong chancellor, scribe and enlightener, philanthropist and collector, founder of the Rumyantsevsky museum (collection of books and manuscripts), opened in St. Petersburg, and later moving to Moscow, to Pashkov’s house. Alexander I, Napoleon, Talleyrand, writers, scientists and public figures highly appreciated the merits of N.P. However, the personality and fate of Count Nikolai Rumyantsev are not in many ways unraveled, his home archive was destroyed by the command of Nicholas I.
The book includes genuine historical documents, including the correspondence of the monarchs, fragments of ancient letters found and published by N.P. Rumyantsev
