Leonid Mikhailovich Brailovsky (1867-1937) - Russian architect and artist, prominent artist of the early XX century. For a number of reasons, his name turned out to be among many others who went into the depths of the time, never waiting for a well -deserved recognition. Since the 30s of the XX century to this day, neither the creative biography of the artist, nor his works have been due to the attention of art historians. At the same time, the materials collected by the author allow us to confidently assert that he was more than a noticeable personality of the Russian Art Nouveau era, playing a significant role in preserving the cultural and artistic traditions of Russian art in the pre-revolutionary period, and then becoming a bright representative of Russian artistic emigration of the first wave.
The last academician of the architecture of imperial Russia, L. M. Brailovsky rightfully became part of the art, scientific and public elite of his time. The artist was a close friend of the families of the Chekhov, Yusupovs, Wrangels, the associate of N.K. Roerich, S. V. Nookovsky, F. F. Komissarzhevsky, M. I. Rostovtsev, K. A. Korovin and many others.
In the monograph, new materials from the collections of Russian museums, archives, libraries, as well as rare documents from foreign storage facilities - Rome, Vatican, Paris, Belgrade, etc. are presented.
