The name of Princess Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva, it would seem, should be known to everyone in Russia, nevertheless, not everyone on the move will tell you at least a little about her, as well as about many philanthropists who participated in the formation of culture, art and education of the Russian Empire on the eve of its death. In the autobiographical book "Impressions of my life", Maria Klavdievna in detail, not even in the diary, but in a confessional manner, told the story of her life, starting from childhood and until the eve of 1917. By the nature of her classes and the circle of communication, Maria Klavdievna was familiar with many artists of her time. Many of her portraits have been preserved - the brushes of Makovsky, Korovin, Vrubel, Repin, Sokolov, Serov, her sculptures of the work of Trubetskoy are also famous. However, perhaps the most important monument to Maria Klavdievna Tenisheva and to this day remains the estate of Talashkino - the world -famous center of Russian culture of the turn of the XIX -XX centuries. In Talashkin, painters Sergey Malyutin, Mikhail Vrubel, Nikolai Roerich, Alexander and Albert Benoit, Mikhail Nesterov, Konstantin Korovin, Ilya Repin, sculptor Pavel Trubetskoy, composers Vasily Andreev and Igor Stravinsky and many others were and worked in Talashkin
