The subject of these memoirs was to find an answer to the question of how and why history and communism, united, formed and inspired the life of an American Jew born in New York, whose father joined the US Communist Party in 1939. Memoirs cover almost half a century of period of dominance of the ideology of the Cold War and three continents. They recreate the path of discoveries and self -knowledge during the years of student at Columbia University, graduate schools in Oxford, searches in Soviet archives, at coal deposits of Eastern Ukraine and in the new independent Uzbekistan
