"I closed the CPSU" - memoirs of Evgeny Savostyanov, Deputy Chairman of the KGB of the USSR and Deputy Director of the Federal Counterintelligence Service of Russia in the early nineties. The appointment in the special services for the democrat and anti -communist Evgeny Savostyanov was unexpected. But the nineties of the XX century in Russia were full of such turns in the fate of people. The author of these memoirs personally participated in the “funeral” of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, shot the “secret” vulture from the history of the Butovo training ground, where thousands of people were shot during the years of Stalin’s repressions, the first to make contact with the anti -Dudaevian opposition in Chechnya, and was responsible for the personnel policy in the presidential administration Yeltsin. Among those with whom fate was faced, were Andrei Sakharov and Mikhail Gorbachev, Yuri Luzhkov and Vladimir Gusinsky, Sergey Stepashin and Anatoly Chubais.
