Quinta Horace Flaccus (65-8 BC) is rightfully considered one of the three (along with Virgil and Ovid) the great poets of the Golden Age of ancient Roman literature. He was the son of a slave released for freedom, in his youth participated in a civil war, lost his family and shelter. Thanks to the patronage of the talent of the nobleman of the philanthropist, and then the Emperor of Augustus, Horace became famous, influencing both contemporaries and masters of the word of future eras. An example for imitation was not only his verses, but also personal qualities - modesty, moderation, indifference to wealth and honors.
