Very few can be called a symbol of the twentieth century, an even smaller number - the creator of its history. Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov, of course, is one of those few who became the brightest character of this complex century.
The book contains memories and essays of more than 70 authors who knew Andrei Dmitrievich closely or sensed his influence, not supported by personal acquaintance. Very conditionally, they are distributed into four sections. In the first, "Return to Eternity", Andrei Dmitrievich is recalled by those who knew him already as an outstanding personality of a huge scale. The second section, at the Nikitsky Gate, belongs to the youth of Andrei Dmitrievich, it contains articles by A.D. friends Sakharov, who could turn to him without a middle name, although they did not and not always. Section Third, "Do what should ...", consists of the memoirs of those who worked with A.D. Sakharov in the forge of the Soviet thermonuclear project - at the "object" in Sarov, or was dedicated to the strictest secret about the role of Andrei Dmitrievich in these works. The last, fourth section of the book, the same Saharov, is a kaleidoscope of sketches that helps the hero of the book from different angles.
The book uses photos mainly from the archive of A.D. Sakharov and daughters of the academician, as well as authors of memories.
