This book is the story of the life of the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fedorovna (1864-1918) - the German princess - the daughter of the Grand Duke of Hesse -Darmstad, the wife of the Moscow General General Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich, the eldest sister of the empress Alexandra Fedorovna.
After the death of her husband, blown up in the Kremlin in 1905, a terrorist bomb devoted herself to charity, founded the Martha-Mariinsky monastery of mercy on the Horde, formed sanitary trains in the First World War, created infants, medicines, etc.
In the spring of 1918, she was arrested, taken to the Urals and on the night of July 18 was thrown alive into a mine near Alapaevsk. Buried in Jerusalem. Canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

Vera Maerova, the historian and writer hiding behind the pseudonym, wrote to date the most complete biography of Elizabeth Fedorovna. It is strange that although in the memoirs of the life of the royal family the name of the Grand Duchess is often found, and the martyrdom made it a saint, this biography to this day remains the only complete study of the life of the Grand Duchess.
