The new book of the Doctor of Historical Sciences A.V. Ganin is devoted to the biography of Major General Anatoly Leonidovich Nosovich (1878-1968) Adventurer and adventurer, guards cavalryman, athlete, favorite of the emperor, hero of the First World War, colleague of the future president of Finland Baron K.G. Mannerheima, a high -ranking military capacity of the Red Army, a white underground in the Red Headquarters, an opponent of the future Soviet leader I.V. Stalin, defector, prisoner at the Reds and the White, a journalist and memoirist, a white general, a French taxi driver. All this is about Nosovic. His life resembles an adventure novel, the culmination of which was the defense of Tsaritsyn from the White in the summer of 1918. Then Nosovich, who served the chief of staff of the North Caucasus Military District of the Reds and at the same time worked on the white underground, was opposed by the Extraordinary Commissar of the South of Russia in food and a member of the military council of I. IN. Stalin. By decision of Stalin Nosovich, in the end, he was arrested. Was this a manifestation of Stalin"s insight or by chance? How did the white scout managed to escape and continue subversive work? Why didn’t the whites believe him later? Readers will find answers to these and many other questions on the pages of this book. The study based on previously unknown documents of domestic and foreign archives reconstructs, in addition to General Nosovich’s life path, the history of the first defense of Tsaritsyn, the confrontation of underground and red commissars in the south of Russia, talks about the dramatic events on the southern front in the fall of 1918 and gives vast material for reflection on the causes of victory Reds and white defeats in the civil war. The study is based on the materials of the seventeen archives of Russia, Latvia, France, Finland and the United States, including documents of special services, as well as family archives of descendants of the event officers
