The book of the illustrious Soviet military leader twice Hero of the Soviet Union of the Soviet Union Vasily Ivanovich Chuykov is dedicated mainly to the combat path of the 62nd Army, transformed after the Battle of Stalingrad into the 8th Guards, which, together with other troops, defended Stalingrad from the enemy, participated in the liberation of Donbass, Zaporozhye, Odessa , forced the Vistula, Oder and ended her battle path by storming Berlin.
