Ilya Yakovlevich Ginzburg (Eliash [Elias] Yankelevich Ginzburg) (1859 - 1939) - sculptor, student of Mark Antokolsky, representative of academism. Academician of the sculpture of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (since 1911), Professor of VKhUTEMAS in Petrograd. He created monuments to Gogol, Aivazovsky, Pushkin, Plekhanov, and others. Ginzburg is also known as a master of small plasticity: the figurines of Shishkin, Vereshchagin, Repin, Surikov, Tolstoy, Mendeleev and others. Memories are written about meetings with all these people.
