The outstanding Russian scientist Pavel Kovalevsky (1850-1931) combined two hypostasis - historian and psychiatrist. Combining practical work in psychiatric hospitals and teaching, being a professor of medical faculties of Warsaw and St. Petersburg Universities, he at the same time wrote a number of historical works. This book includes the psychological portraits of four Russian kings - Ivan the Terrible, Peter I, Peter III and Paul I. Following the author, we notice not only their actions, but also internal motives, which are affected by many circumstances - sometimes inconspicuous, but giving a psychiatrist Food for thought. Pavel Kovalevsky considers these circumstances, coupled with heredity and explains how the villain obsessed with the mania of the persecution of the villain grown from the boy, and from the boy Peter the Great Preverter of the Russian land, why the reign of Peter III inevitably should end for himself and why Paul I was captured by his own Fantasies and so mediocre his power.
