The memories of the life of the young Berliner of the era of the Weimar Germany, who already in the early 1920s felt the approach of the Third Reich, immigrated into the dandective Palestine and created almost new science at the new university of the new state, will be important to everyone who is interested in the formation of the personality and the problem of choosing the path in The era of social shocks. The author of this book Gershom (Gerhard) Sholem (1897-1982) occupies a special place in the world of Jewish thought. He managed to create an academic region, which - as we now see - includes the study and analysis of the Kabbalistic literature in its historical development, the phenomenology of religious mysticism, the spiritual and political problems of Zionism and the general Jewish civilization. This publication reproduces in Russian the final version of the autobiography, published in 1997 ("Suhrkamp")-on the 100th anniversary of the birth of G. Sholem
