Franklin Delaino Roosevelt (1882-1945) is the only American president who was chosen for this post four times. With the help of a "new course, he brought the United States from the Great Depression and led them almost throughout the Second World War. Thanks to him, the country committed it with traditional isolationism and turned into an influential member of the world community, and its citizens received a powerful system of social protection. Sentimental faith in good and justice got along with selfishness, prudence and willingness to make considerable sacrifices. He has been, noble and petty, selfless and vengeful. Why did Roosevelt treat Stalin with sympathy and did not like de Gaulle? Who won them with Churchill of intellectual competitions? How did the family feel about his love novels? How did he manage, suffering from polio, to make speeches standing?
