The historical role of Boris Petrovich Sheremetev is not in doubt. He was the first-in the meaning of the “main”-Field Marshal, commanded the army in the Northern War and was always in the center of the events of Russian life. Having gained a European gloss and is not much different in habits from the highest European aristocracy, at the same time he at the same time brightly and wholely reflected the mood of the old Moscow nobility, repeatedly caused the tsar’s discontent and was suspected of involvement in the cause of Tsarevich Alexei. In a word, we can say with confidence that among the contemporaries of Peter I there is no one else who would represent so much interest in terms of observations of the Petrovsky era, like Sheremetev. It is also important that in a large part, the family archive of Sheremetevs was preserved, the first researcher of which was the author of this book. Alexander Zaozersky (1874-1941)-historian, archaeographer, professor of St. Petersburg University. In] 929 was exiled to Solovki. After liberation in the mid-1930s, he was studying the archives of the Petrine era
