Fedor Cherenkov was rightfully called a "people"s football player". Everyone loved him - and not only the fans of Spartak - the club to whom he gave all his life and for which he spent a record number of matches, but also the army, Dynamo, fans from other cities and the republics of the then Soviet Union then. And when he was gone in 2014 - at the age of only fifty -five years! - In parting with him, more than 15 thousand people came to the Sokolniki arena in Sokolniki. So many people in the history of domestic football buried only two: his and Eduard Streltsov. The people called their two, the most beloved, affectionately, by names: Edik and Fedya. And it was not necessary to explain who we were talking about.
About the happy and at the same time the tragic fate of this pure and bright person, a unique "artist of the game", is told in the book of Igor Rabiner and Vladimir Galedin. The authors (one of whom was familiar with Cherynkov for a quarter of a century) held many hours of conversations with people who knew better than the outstanding football player - his closest friend and many years of Spartak’s partner, his teammates, both wives, daughter, many others. We multiply all this on a thorough study of the press for each year, conducted by Chelenkov in football and after it, and we will get a book that draws its multifaceted portrait based on a huge number of new facts for readers and sets points over "i" in numerous myths around his legendary name
