Faina Georgievna Ranevskaya (1896-1984) was recognized as one of the most famous and favorite actresses of domestic theater and cinema, although she played mainly in episodes and most often negative roles. Such a paradox has several reasons at once: the acting talent of Ranevskaya, its human charm and brilliant wit, manifested both on the screen and in life.
