This book is a joint autobiography of the writer Sergei Yuryenen and philologist and philosopher Mikhail Epstein. Their friendship began in 1967, in the first year of the philological faculty of Moscow State University, and lasts half a century, now in the USA. This is not only a double and dialogical autobiography, but also an encyclopedia of the most mysterious, seeking, passionate, painful, selfish, crisis, metaphysical age - youth. One hundred and twenty articles reveal in alphabetically the main problems and the lyrical-philosophical faces of youth from the Absolute "to" I ". Covering seven years, from 1967 to 1974, the book plunges into the world of youthful hobbies and doubts, creative impulses, love torments, public fears, existential and professional questions. At the same time, this is the experience of lyrical cultural studies: the historical and household context of the era is considered in detail from the “thaw "to" stagnation”, university and literary environment, student customs, changes in public consciousness, and colorful portraits of contemporaries - writers, scientists, and professors of Moscow State University are given .
