Letters of Vincent Van Gogh are an amazing document, for a hundred years since the first publication that has been enjoying well -deserved interest and admiration for readers. This is the rare case when the literary giftedness, originality of nature and the depth of the author were supplemented by the truly dramatic ups and downs of his biography, reflected in these personal texts. Legendary biographies - like everything connected with the name of Vincent Van Gogh.
The full volume of the artist’s correspondence survived to this day is huge - 820 letters. We represent the reader the first volume of two -volume anthology - at the moment the most complete of the existing in Russian, which included a third of the total number of letters of Vincent Van Gogh. All letters are published without bills and re -translated with facsimile of the original, a number of letters are published in Russian for the first time.
The second volume includes the letters dating from 1883–1890, in the texts of which the artist formulates life and artistic views and where the iconic events of his life and creativity were reflected: moving to Paris, and then to Arle, work on works, Which in the near future was destined to glorify his name
