This book is the memoirs of Dmitry Shepilov, the editor -in -chief of the newspaper "Pravda", member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, later and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. The author not only sets out the events that took place in the 30-50s, but reveals the emotional, human side of these events. His memories are interesting to the courage and independence of judgments about the issues of public and political life that are relevant at that time, frank and unpleasant characteristics of key political figures of the USSR.
Dmitry Trofimovich Shepilov (1905-1995), candidate member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. At the peak of their career in 1956, foreign analysts called him a third person in the hierarchy of Soviet power. He was responsible for the ideology, culture and science as secretary of the CPSU Central Committee.
In 1957, he was declared "who joined the anti -party group" Molotov, Malenkov and Kaganovich. Deprived of all posts and titles, including the title of a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, was exiled to Kyrgyzstan, then returned to Moscow. Thanks to the efforts of the then party leadership, who stood the memory of Shepilov from public consciousness, can be considered the most paradoxical, incomprehensible and unusual member of the Soviet leadership in the era of the transition from Stalinism "to" stagnation.
Professor of political economy (1938), Private Militia near Moscow (1941), Major General (1945), Cavalier of many military orders
