Johann George Corb (1672 - 1741) - German diplomat and statesman. He conducted notes in which he recorded current events, described the life of the Russian court, paid special attention to the organization of the Russian army, the procedure for the work of orders and state institutions, the state of education, as well as the life and morals of the Russian people. The first of the foreign authors described Russia under Peter I. Corb was entered into the king’s close circle, due to which his descriptions are distinguished by reliability, high documentation and give a living characteristics to the young king, draw portraits of his closest associates, and tells about the customs that reigned at the Moscow court. He witnessed one of the most dramatic moments of the reign of Peter I - the Streltsky rebellion of 1698 and the mass executions of Sagittarius. Circulation 30 copies.
