"Diary of Cavalier Bernini to France" is a unique historical monument. The memoirs of the court dignity Field Frear de Chambelu (1609-1694) reflect the time when the author had a chance to contact the architect and sculptor Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini, known at that time to all Europe.
On the new side, the era of Louis XIV is illuminated - the time of brilliant achievements, because three geniuses are found in it at once. The first is the artistic genius of Bernini himself. The second is the political genius of Jean-Batista Kolber (1619-1683), an omnipotent minister who sought to raise France from the devastation into which her war abandoned.
