The peak of K2, or Chogori, due to the extreme complexity of the ascent, was called "Wild Mountain". Its height is 8611 meters - this is the northern eight -thousandth of the world and the third peak after Annapurna and Nanga Parabet in terms of mortality.
In August 2008, 11 climbers from several expeditions died on climbing - there were no so many victims in one season in the history of the mountain.
The authors of the book conducted an unprecedented study, took more than 200 interviews and were able to recreate the real history of the tragedy, including thanks to the frank stories of the Pakistani and Nepalsky high -altitude porters.
