Vasily Vitalievich Shulgin (1878-1976) lived a long life and was a witness and participant in many historical events. A deputy of the State Duma, a successful publisher, a talented publicist, he was both an ardent monarchist, and one of the iconic figures of the February Revolution, which destroyed the monarchy, and the ideologist of the White movement, and a fugitive from Russia with the remnants of the White troops, and a long -term emigrant, and concluded by the Vladimir Central. .. The literary inheritance left by him is huge, the works "days" and "1920" make up only its small part. But they reflect a large and complex part of our history - political life in Russia on the eve and during the First World War, two revolutions, a civil war. Shulgin also devoted a lot of space in his memoirs to the abdication of the throne of Emperor Nicholas II, the signing of which took place in his presence. The undoubted literary talent of Shulgin, his frankness and excellent memory allowed him to create an impressive picture of the events of that time and made his memories one of the outstanding phenomena in memoirism, to which historians and readers turn to this day
