In the almost hundred -year biography of the writer, publicist, public figure Daniil Granin, many events fit - the first five -year plan and the Great Patriotic War, the Khrushchev thaw and the Gorbachev perestroika, the disputes of “physicists" and“ lyrics ”, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the difficult birth of the new Russia. All this Daniil Alexandrovich managed to comprehend, feel and embody in his works. Whatever he wrote about - about the life and work of scientists, about the tragic years of the war and the blockade experienced by him, or about the distant past - in the center of his attention there are always problems of morality, the moral choice facing each person. He himself has repeatedly made this choice, playing for justice and mercy, for maintaining the historical appearance of his native Leningrad-Petersburg.
