The essay covers the military path and the commercial activities of the commanders of the troops, chiefs of the front headquarters and commanders of the combined arms, tank and air armies and air defense armies during the war years. Through their biographies, the glorious heroic path of the Red Army during the war years is traced. The essay provides updated data on the number of commanders. Earlier it was believed that 40 people were commanded by the fronts, the armies of 183, and the chiefs of the headquarters of the front were 39 people. Archival documents indicate that 43 were commanded by the fronts, 280 armies, and the headquarters of the fronts were headed by 63 people. The surnames of all of them and biographical data are given in the essay. When writing work, archival documents were used by the headquarters of the Supreme High Command, the State Defense Committee, the People"s Commissariat of Defense and the General Staff, as well as the works of the Institute of Military History of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, memoirs of Soviet military leaders, the work of M.A. Gareeva, A.A. Pechenkina, I.I. Kuznetsov and other authors. This essay is a modest contribution of the club of military leaders of the Russian Federation to perpetuating the memory of the commanders of fronts and armies, the pride of our Fatherland. The book is intended for military leaders, officers, war veterans, armed forces, as well as for readers interested in Russian military history
