The life of the great composer, called in the 18th century saints from music, is not rich in events. Contrary to this, Bach managed to repeatedly confuse his biographers. Some of his actions seem surprisingly illogical. And he himself - so simple and ordinary, neatly leading home accounting and raising numerous children - as if it escapes from understanding. Why was it open to him unattainable heights and depths? What served as the master of a tuning fork, according to which he built his masterpieces? This book is not written for professional musicians and certainly - not for Bahovers. A science that studies the work of the greatest of the composers has more than one hundred volumes. The best of them are in German. It would be foolish to try to compete with European researchers in terms of exclusivity of materials. Such a task is not set here. The author would like to tell not only about a great man, but also about the environment that has grown him. About the cities in which he lived, about people who influenced him, and about the interesting features of his profession. To tell not abstract people, but to their compatriots - lovers of music, often very far from the context of Western European spiritual traditions
