In the second half of the 1930s, in England, the Soviet intelligence officer Arnold Dechchy formed an intelligence group, which later gained fame as the "Cambridge five". It included graduates of a privileged University of Cambridge John Kerkross, Guy Burzes, Kim Philby, Donald McClin and Anthony Blant. The information received from the "five" concerned primarily the state of the Armed Forces of Germany and the attitude to the USSR of the Allies of the Anti -Hitler coalition. For a long time, the Cambridge Five was the most productive source of documentary information for Moscow, and it was no coincidence that the former CIA director Allen Dulles called it the “most powerful reconnaissance group of the Second World War”
