The memoirs of John Gugovich Fokke (? -1925), a direct participant in the diplomatic negotiations in Brest-Litovsk, who marked Russia"s exit from the First World War, are written with bitter irony in relation to the leadership of the Bolshevik delegation. The author, a former senior officer of the General Staff of the Tsarist Army, was invited to develop conditions to conclude a peace treaty of Soviet Russia with Kaiser Germany as one of the leading military experts. The memoirs of D. G. Fokke, now proposed to the reader, have become a vivid and lively evidence of a turning point for Russia and the world
