Reading the historical drama of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin "Boris Godunov", not only the author’s literary genius should be seen. Pushkin - flesh from the flesh of the ancient generic nobility of the Russian. For him, Boris Godunov’s accession to the throne is the work of his class and, one might say, family business. Pushkin writes as a descendant of participants in the great struggle belonging to the times of Godunov.
The work of A.S. Pushkin is complemented by the travel notes of the German envoy Johann Brahmbakh and the English merchant Thomas Smith, who visited Russia at the beginning of the 17th century. A scientific assessment of the personality and policy of Boris Godunov was given in the writings of N.M. Karamzin and V.O. Klyuchevsky.
