Yuri Markovich Nagibin is a writer, journalist and screenwriter, whose movie scenarios were shot more than 40 films, including those included in the Golden Fund of Soviet and Russian cinematography: "Chairman", "Pier on the other side", "Babier Kingdom", "Tchaikovsky", " "Mardemarins, forward!", "Vivat, midshipmen!".
In the fall of 1941, Yuri Nagibin was drafted into the army and sent to the Volkhov Front to the Political Administration, where his duties included propaganda against the Germans in the front line. Often this was done under the enemy strong fire, as a result, Nagibin was several times on the hair from death and received a heavy contusion.
His military memories are a frank work, which shows the wrong side of war or "War from the Black Treasure,", as Nagibin called it. The life of officers and soldiers in the forefront with their daily care, mud, lice, blood and death is described with bitter humor, without pathos and falsehood, in the best traditions of Russian literature
