In 1550, the first edition of the book “Biographies of the most famous painters, sculptors and architects” saw light. Its author, the thirty -year -old -year -old Georgio Vazari, had already won a reputation as a gifted and skillful painter by that time. Soon his architectural talent was also recognized: in 1565, by order of the Duke of Medici Vazari, he created a gallery connecting the Palazzo Veckoo and Palazzo Pitti - now known as the corridor of Vazari.
Meanwhile, Vasari continued to improve his literary work, and in 1568 the second, supplemented publication of biographies was published.
It was this book that glorified the name of its creator for centuries: having preserved for the descendants a lot of important information and entertaining details about the life and work of the Titans of the Renaissance, Vasari actually laid the foundation for modern art history.
