The memoirs of the famous screenwriter, professor of VGIK I. M. Mansevich (1907-1976) were written in the early 1970s and were not intended for publication in those conditions when this would inevitably be associated with significant censorship. Events and heroes of several decades of the history of Soviet cinema - this is not all the narrative. It presented a wide section of the life of the Russian intelligentsia, for which the external outline of existence - war, evacuation, the threat of repression - never obscured tense spiritual searches and desire to creatively be realized in its business
