Dusan Petrovich Makovitsky entered the history of Slovak, Russian and pan-European culture not only as the home doctor of writer Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy, but also as the author of the Yasnaya Polish notes, in which he, with possible completeness, outlined the statements of Tolstoy on various issues of the political and socio-economic situation of Russia, oh. literature and art. Makovitsky accompanied Tolstoy during his departure from Yasnaya Polyana and, as a doctor, together with his colleagues did everything in his power to maintain the health and life of the writer. After the death of Tolstoy, Makovitsky for a dozen years continued active medical practice in Yasnaya Polyana.
