The first biography of Alfred Nobel, full and based on the primary sources, is an amazing and contradictory person who dreamed of peace around the world, wrote love poems at night and invented dynamite, forever changing the techniques of warfare. The book about the creator of the most famous and respected reward on Earth - the Nobel Prize - wrote a Swedish writer and journalist Ingrid Karlberg. She traces the story of the life of Nobel and his family in detail, immersing us as much as possible in the era and its atmosphere, and for the first time concerns in detail the previously silent and taboo topics: the long -term secret novel by Alfred (who was never married, but always dreamed of family and home comfort) Austrian Sophie Hess, as well as those who followed his death of painful family disagreements regarding the will and institution of the award. The book is based on a huge amount of previously unknown sources: combining the scientific severity of the academic level with the curiosity of the journalist-investigator, Karlberg worked in the archives of the five countries, studied hundreds of documents and thousands of private letters, including the Nobel family dedicated to the St. Petersburg period (early 1840- x-early 1860s).
