The book is devoted to the review of the life and creative path of the famous Russian artist -landscape painter of the late XIX - early twentieth centuries Alexander Alekseevich Borisov (1866 - 1934) A native of the Russian North, he was born in a simple peasant family. The path of a peasant boy from the Northern Dvina, a monastery icon-painter to a world-famous landscape painter, seems incomprehensible. But behind this, it would seem, fantastic rise is hiding incredible performance and determination. And personal courage helped him overcome the incredible hardships of polar expeditions, in which the artist has repeatedly visited the hair from death.
The whole creative fate of Alexander Borisov is an inspired hymn to the extreme north, which the artist loved since childhood. His paintings, exhibited in Europe and America, showed the world Arctic long before the invention of color photography, cinema and video. In the homeland of this wonderful artist, the successor of the traditions of his teachers Ivan Shishkin and Arkhip Kuindzhi, few know.
