The book of the Doctor of Historical Sciences A. V. Ganin included biographical essays about fifty officers who participated in the civil war on different sides of the barricades - in the ranks of the Red, White and National Armies, as well as those who fell victim to terror in those difficult years. The names of some are well known, only experts know about others. The fates of many are paradoxical (from the Marshal of the Soviet Union Leonid Govorov, who served in the White, to the White General Yakov Slashchev, who became a military specialist in the Red Army), the life choice and experience of each in the break in history are interesting.
