Alexander Khristorovich Benkendorf played the role of Anti-Patriotic history for too long. Historians and literary critics, writers and screenwriters endowed it with all sorts of negative features. This is not surprising - for a century, there was no attention to the biography of Benkendorf, and a significant part of his memoirs overgrown with archival dust. Georgievsky Cavalier, Scout and Partizan, Combat General, war hero 1812, the liberator of Holland from Napoleonic domination, member of the State Council and Committee of Ministers, Benkendorf tried to create a state mechanism for the fight against corruption and treasury. He was a personal friend of such unrestricted figures as the emperor Nicholas I and Decembrist Sergey Volkonsky, petitioned for Pushkin, Lermontov and Gogol, won his mistress from Napoleon and survived the tragic novel with the one who was dedicated to Tyutchev"s" I met you. The book of the historian Dmitry Oleinikova talks about how she lived, fought, traveled, loved Count Benkendorf
