The book is intended for Orthodox Christians preparing to participate in church sacraments. Compared to the 1st edition (Before Confession: to help those entering the Church. Moscow, 1995), the edition has been significantly expanded. The collection includes new translations into Russian by Priest Georgy Kochetkov and Nikolay Epple of the texts 'Penitential Canon to Our Lord Jesus Christ' and 'Order of Preparation for Holy Communion', an article by Priest Georgy Kochetkov and his conversation with the newly churchified about a pious Christian life, as well as two articles by Archpriest Alexander Schmeman († 1984) - 'On Confession' and 'The Importance of Preparation for Communion'.
The publishers hope that the collection will strengthen personal and church piety.
