Superman, Batman, Spider-Man-Superheroes-almost over the eyelids of his existence became one of the pillars of modern pop culture, and their catchy, spectacular theatrical and sports costumes-one of the most recognizable symbols of the 20th century. In the book of the visual communication of Barbara Brownie and the criticism of the cinema and comics, Danny Graidon, for the first time, attempted an interdisciplinary analysis of the superhero costume. The authors show how their “fashion” was transformed from the first comics about Superman to modern film franchizes, examining in detail the relationship of the superhero and its vestments. How did the function of the superhero costume change? Why is its mandatory element a mask? And how is all this related to the practices of the 18th century masquerade? Among the objects of the attention of researchers are comics, films, television series, the history of “superheroes” from real life and such a practice of modern fans of pop culture as cosplay
