Was the jeans always blue, and why did the red cap - the Red hat? What is "Beig Mitteran"? Why did the actors in Europe not like green?
The world around us is replete with colors, but did we think about how colors affect us, our daily choice, and in the end - on our lives? What role do they play in our lives? And how far into the depths of history go the roots of our collective color memory?
To answer these (and not only these) questions, the French historian Michelle Pasturo, the author of the "symbolic history of the European Middle Ages", offers us his own, personal "chromatic diary", covering the last six decades (1950-2010) Personal memories, notes made in hot pursuit, thoughts, literary retreats and the results of many years of historical research - made up a book describing the “history of the color” of France and Europe of modern times. Shades of words, color schemes of clothing, household items and rituals of everyday life, emblems and flags, the colors of sports arenas, dating back to the coat of arms of medieval tournaments, literature and painting - everything that makes our world individual and colorful, carries a difficult and changing symbolic meaning.
In his "chromatic chronicle", now seriously, then jokingly, then poetically, then nostalgically the author writes the history of his contemporaries, in which the memory of an individual becomes the memory of society, the memory of the country, and the memory of the era. And arranges the colored milestones of this memory
