Dear readers! Before you is the famous fairy tale by the French writer Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont 'Beauty and the Beast', illustrated by the remarkable English artist Walter Crane (1845-1915). He illustrated more than 50 books for children, becoming one of the most popular book artists. Crane believed that children prefer to see precise lines, clearly defined shapes and figures, bright saturated colors. With his illustrations, he aimed to amaze children's imagination. Together with the artist Edmund Evans, he created one of the first color children's books in history. Crane also experienced significant influence from Japanese prints, which, in his opinion, perfectly matched the characteristics of children's perception.
