One of the most advanced poems of the XIX century, Konstantin Nikolaevich Batyushkov (1787-1855) occupies a special place in the history of Russian literature as the immediate and nearest predecessor of Pushkin. In everyday sense, fate turned out to be extremely cruel to him: he did not career, although he was a brave officer, he failed to arrange a personal life, although he dreamed of love, and his creative biography broke out what was called, on takeoff. Joy and good luck at all cost him the side, and even more often he fled himself from them, turning his life into an endless series of troubles and misfortunes. Than all this ended, it is well known: the last thirty years with the elder, Batyushkov spent in an unconscious state, completely losing reason and actually dropping out of the list of living
