With the exception of the Great Patriotic War, the Mongol invasion is perhaps the most terrible and bloody page in our history. In the XIII century, a disaster occurred, the consequences of which are affected to this day. The most powerful power, which at that time was Vladimir-Suzdal Russia, whose culture ascended to an unprecedented height, and the squads could “spill the Volga, and scoop up the Don”, collapsed for three months under the hooves of the Mongolian hordes. Not only for ordinary people of that time, but also for the elite, both spiritual and secular, such a collapse of the foundations that seemed unshakable required rethinking and understanding. The usual world collapsed, and collapsed forever. This was perceived as the end of the world, as the anger of God on the Russian land, sent from above for numerous sins of not only princes, but also the whole people. The life of Russian people clearly divided into before and after the invasion. Based on the evidence of both domestic and foreign written sources, attracting numerous archaeological data, M. Eliseev tried to cover the picture of the Batu campaign to northeastern Russia as much as possible
