Borodino battle - the heroic page of Russian history, the great battle of the Napoleonic era, the symbol of honor and courage. Borodino - the heritage of national culture, which turned into a legend, more durable than scientific construction.
The author explored the formation of a complex of knowledge about the battle, revealed the source base of historiographic constructions. For the first time, primary documentation was exhaustively studied.
The picture of the battle, created on the basis of systemically verified historical sources, makes it possible to evaporate that the decisions of the Russian command were more suspended and produced by manna, and the actions of troops are more meaningful, professional and efficient than this is presented in the Great Legend
