The textbook is part of a new system of textbooks for a four-year primary school called 'Innovative Primary School'. It provides students with a general understanding of the historical and cultural traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church: the foundations of Orthodox Christian faith, moral values, holy places, rituals, and Orthodox artistic culture. The content of the textbook complies with the Federal State Educational Standard (second generation) and the Standard of Primary General Education on the Basics of Religious Cultures and Secular Ethics in accordance with the Federal component of the state educational standard for primary school. The textbook is intended for general education institutions. 9th edition. Approved for distribution by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
