Basics of fractal diagnostics

The main types of macro- and microstructures of fractures and mechanisms of destruction of structural materials under static, cyclic, and dynamic loading are considered. Methods of fractodiagnostics are described, allowing to evaluate the characteristics of destruction based on fracture parameters. Examples of fracture analysis in emergency situations are provided. Some general regularities inherent to different materials under various loading conditions are identified. For specialists in the field of mechanics and physics of destruction, metallurgy and materials processing, students and postgraduates, scientific and industrial workers involved in the expertise of premature destruction of structures.
