The name of Baron Munchausen - an incorrigible liar, inventor and a dreamer - is known to everyone since childhood. Many also know that a person with such a name - genuine Jerome Karl Friedrich von Munchausen - really lived in Germany in the 18th century and left a memory in Russia, where his military service was held. But what was this person really? What events of his genuine biography served as the basis of his cheerful stories? And what role in the creation of the legendary image played the authors of the first printed works written on his behalf - German writers R.E. District and G.A. Burgher?
To answer these and many other questions, the author of the book, writer Sergei Makeev, went through the earthly roads of the real Munchausen in Germany and Russia, and then the fantastic ways of a fictional baron.
