Blackberry Island is located near Seattle. It was discovered in 1792 by George Vancouver, a captain in the British fleet who explored Puget Sound. American settlers arrived on the island in 1848 and named it after the fruit bushes that grew everywhere. The original name of Blackberry Island was Feather Island.
In 1889, the island's population doubled. It was then that the 'Three Sisters' towers were built, which will be discussed in the second book of the series.
Today, tourism remains the main industry of Blackberry Island.
