The book is dedicated to the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church who minister to our soldiers participating in a special military operation in Ukraine. Being directly in the combat zone, the priests, alongside the military personnel, risk their lives to spiritually strengthen and guide young fighters who are just beginning their military path, as well as experienced warriors with years of combat experience. Many soldiers receive Holy Baptism right before battle, and the Lord grants them miraculous salvation to strengthen their faith in situations where it seems impossible to survive.
Special thanks are extended by the editorial team to the soldiers of the 11th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade, formed in Ulan-Ude (Buryatia), with callsigns Sura, Katun, Khan, and Volga (Hieromonk Nikon). It is thanks to their stories that this narrative was written, as the author spent several days in a mortar platoon under the command of Senior Lieutenant Sura, in the second line, in the trenches of Zaporozhye with these truly brave and courageous men in April 2023.
